Laser welding process applications in the automotive industry

Laser welding has the advantages of high accuracy, cleanliness, environmental protection, processing of various types of materials, efficiency and so on, and is widely used in the automotive industry and other high-end precision manufacturing fields. Today we will introduce the automotive industry laser welding process applications. 

Laser welding in the automotive industry manufacturing process mainly includes three major types of applications: body assembly and sub-assembly laser group welding, laser welding of unequal thickness plate, laser welding of automotive parts. 

Body laser welding is mainly divided into assembly welding, side enclosure and roof welding, follow-up welding, the use of laser welding in the automotive industry on the one hand, can reduce the weight of the car, enhance the mobility of the car, while reducing fuel consumption; on the other hand, to enhance the quality of the product and technological sophistication. 

Laser welding is in the body design and manufacturing, according to the different design and performance requirements of the body, will be different thickness, different materials, different or the same performance of the plate through the laser cutting and assembling technology connected to a whole, and then by stamping molding for a part of the body. At present, laser welding plate has been widely used in various parts of the automobile body, such as luggage compartment reinforcement plate, luggage compartment inner plate, shock absorber support, rear wheel cover, side enclosure inner plate, door inner plate, front floor, front longitudinal beam, bumper, beam, wheel cover, B-pillar connector, center column and so on. 

Laser welding of automotive parts has the advantages of almost no deformation of the welded parts, fast welding speed, and does not require post-weld heat treatment. At present, laser welding is widely used in the manufacture of transmission gears, valve tappets, door hinges, drive shafts, steering shafts, engine exhaust, clutch, supercharger axle and chassis and other automotive components.

In response to the demand for laser welding in the automotive industry, Wuhan Sintec Optoelectronics has developed and provided a three-dimensional robot fiber laser welding machine. 

Adopting original imported industrial robots with high positioning accuracy, large processing range and six-axis linkage, it realizes the welding of automotive three-dimensional parts. 

Manipulate the robot arm through the handheld terminal, the whole machine has a compact structure, even in places with harsh conditions and many restrictions, it can still realize efficient operation. 

Equipped with non-contact welding seam tracking system, real-time detection and correction of welding seam deviation, to ensure the welding quality. 

According to the customer's working conditions, reasonable safety protection devices are designed to effectively prevent the injury of laser radiation to personnel during the welding process. 

Multiple stations can be designed to work together and load and unload in turn; highly flexible welding system can realize automatic control and long-distance welding to improve the efficiency of automobile welding.
